As the Vhembe district municipality unpacks its plan for 2018/2019 financial year, water scarcity remains a challenge in some communities.
Various community stakeholders took part in the Vhembe district municipality integrated development planning review and budget public hearing at Vhembe municipality council chambers last Friday.
The water service authority is facing challenges such as theft that triggers water service delivery in some parts of the district.
Acting Vhembe Mayor, Rudzani Ludere made a plea to traditional leaders and various community structure leaders to advice members of the community to take good care of the infrastructure as the municipality has no budget for the replacement of stolen properties. “When people steal cables, transformers and water pumps, it affects them in the delivery of water to communities as planned,” he says.
