Bafana Bafana have arrived in Polokwane for their replay of an annulled 2018 World Cup qualifier between South Africa and Senegal will be played this Friday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
They are without their number one goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune who was injured during the weekend against Chippa United on Sunday.
In a short briefing at the Polokwane International Airport, Executive Mayor of Polokwane, Thembi Nkadimeng, the MEC for Sports Arts and Culture Onnica Moloi welcomed the team.
Moloi says the people of Limpopo will come in their numbers at the 45 000-seater stadium on Friday to be the 12th player on the field in support of Bafana Bafana “history will repeat itself on Friday.
“You must go with same spirit that you went into the encounter against Burkina Faso” she further says
In his short remarks, Bafana coach Stuart Baxter promised the best on Friday “We promise the best because whenever we are here we are always taken care of.
The hospitality is always the best” he says.
Meanwhile Bafana Captain Thulani Hlatshwayo has also promised positive results in the upcoming game.
South Africa won 2-1 against Senegal but the game was nullified by FIFA and called for the game to be replayed at the same venue.
Burkina Faso and Cape Verde lead Group D with six points from four matches while Senegal have five and South Africa one from three matches.
South Africa needs to win its home game this Friday and the away game against Senegal to qualify for the World Cup finals in Russia.
