Community members urged to heighten fight against corruption

By: Dan Mdluli

pridenews-logoDemocratic Alliance (DA) leader in Limpopo Jacques Smalle, has called on members of the community to heighten the fight against corruption. Smalle was speaking during his visit to Laerskool Marble Hall and Dynamique Secondary School in Marble Hall and Groblersdal towns respectively on
Saturday morning.

The opposition’s provincial leader was accompanied by Member of Parliament (MP), David Matsepe and DA Sekhukhune District Municipality Coucillors.

Smalle says it is irksome to take note that 70% of people are not living a good life and subjected to abject poverty. The leader highlighted that 60% of the people in both Elias Motsoaledi and Ephraim Mogale Local Municipalities were unemployed.

“63 000 people in Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality are living in poverty. Lack of employment cannot be explained with R7,6 billion in the province unaccounted for. That is the money that was supposed to have been used for housing and essential services for the people,” informed Smalle.

He says of all the municipalities led by the DA, 83% of them could now account for all the funds as compared to when they were ruled by the ANC.

“The money that is stolen is supposed to be helping you. We can bring change to the lives of people by providing jobs. While we can’t give everybody a job, when we work together we can change the country for the better,” adds Smalle.

Further adding that plans are underway to launch Vuka Siyakhe Programme which is curtailed to benefit every young student who graduates from university.
