Final examinations for matric pupils across the country are well into their third week and the Department of education in Limpopo says they are proceeding smoothly.
Department spokesperson, Sam Makondo says no incidents of irregularities have been reported, “So far, candidates have kept to their best behaviour, we’ve not received reports of copying or the use of unauthorised material. They are keeping to the pledge that they signed when the exams began.”
Last year the department launched parallel investigations with authorities like the South African Police Service and the Hawks after learners from Giyani High school and New Era College received a leaked paper of maths paper two from the owner of two private colleges in Limpopo.
Makondo has urged learners across the province to keep to their pledge and says family members should offer support and be vigilant of their children’s behaviour during this crucial time.
Makondo says, “Parents and community members must create a conducive environment for pupils to study, limit the chores at home, it’s just a few weeks until the 28th of November when exams conclude.”
A total of 634527 full-time and 1468109 part-time candidates across the country have been registered to sit for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams.
The NSC examination results will be released on the evening of 4 January 2018 and candidates will receive their individual results from 5 January 2018.
