Limpopo police provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba condemns the killing of yet another police officer by a suspect in the province.

This after a 59 year old Detective Warrant Officer was murdered on Sunday afternoon by a suspect who was sought for assault with grievous bodily harm (GBH) and theft out of a motor vehicle cases.

“It is understood the police were following up information after cases of theft out of motor vehicle and assault GBH were reported against the suspect. The information led police to a house in the Louis Trichardt town, ” says provincial police spokesperson Lt. Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.

Ngoepe says the suspect became violent when the police wanted to arrest him and stabbed the officer who later died in hospital.

“The 30 year old suspect was arrested after he was cornered and subdued in the house.”

A senior police officer was also murdered earlier this month, after being shot outside his home in Vuwani outside Thohoyandou by unknown suspects.

The suspect in the latest case is expected to appear before the Louis Trichardt Magistrate Court soon on charges of murder, theft out of motor vehicle and assault GBH.

Ngoepe says police investigations are still continuing.
